Frequently Asked Questions

A resident visiting with Santa.

Has your building been recently updated in any way?

Yes, our memory support unit was added in 2017 and our interior motif was updated at the same time. We have updated two courtyards in the last 24 months for all to enjoy!

Do you have good food?

Our food is made according to personal preference. We have a select menu to choose from and all food is made from scratch.

What is your nurse to patient ratio?

The ratio depends upon the time of day. We have 24 hour RN coverage 7 days a week which many facilities do not. For more information, please contact the Administrator, Bob Kerr at 210-804-1223.

Can I visit my family member or loved one?

At this time we are at reduced visitation because of the pandemic. This is following CDC guidelines to maximize the safety of our patients and residents. We do have an essential caregiver program which will provide some limited opportunities to visit. We are moving towards Phase 1 visitation. Call our facility at 210-804-1223 and ask for our Activities Department to learn more.

Will my family member receive therapy?

Yes, we have physical, occupational, and speech therapy available on-site by licensed therapists. Each patient is evaluated and a specialized plan of care is formulated to maximize the time the patient spends with us. We focus on the greatest need the patient has so we can assist in returning this patient to their former level of function.

How much will it cost?

Every situation is different, and this all depends upon your insurance coverage. Regent Care Oakwell Farms accepts most insurance, and we will be happy to review this important factor before you or your loved one ever comes into our rehabilitation unit. We also can accommodate individuals wanting to apply for Medicaid or long-term care. Private pay terms can be negotiated. Call 210-804-1223 and ask for Heidi for more information.

Will there be a TV and phone in the room?

Most of the rooms have cable TV installed which is available at no cost. Because of the popularity of cell phone use, only the rooms on the therapy wings have a landline phone installed. The nurses in the hallway have access to portable phones. Feel free to call Bob Kerr for more information at 210-804-1223.

Can my loved one receive mail?

Mail is delivered to residents personally on a daily basis except for weekends and holidays.

What is an Ombudsman?

A long-term care ombudsman helps residents of a nursing facility and residents of an assisted living facility resolve complaints. Help provided by an ombudsman is confidential and free of charge. To speak with an ombudsman, a person may call the toll-free number 1-800-252-2412.
